Testing the boot loader connector

I made a patch cable between the  USBasp and the connector on the communication board. 10 to 6 pins. It is not difficult, but I had to be very accurate to pick the correct pin numbers between both connectors.

After this little job, which took me more than an hour,...I connected the cable. I should be able to see the ATMEGA32 in eXtreme burner via the USB port/cable to the USBasp burner and further through the patch cable to the ATMEGA32 on the communication board. And,......it was working. The funny behavior of the tuner (powered!) and the connection to the application software was that the application software did not 'see' the tuner when I connected the cable to the communication board, but it saw the tuner again when I connected the USBasp to the PC. But anyway it worked. eXtreme burner could see the ATMEGA323 automatically, and I could program the chip on the board. Much easier, because I don't have to get of the big chip from the PCB when I want to flash a new firmware in it. Don't try to flash a new boot loader in the chip, it breaks you chip,......at least it did with me. See further at the boot loader chapter.
